Outdoor Season Continues at Big Ten Texas Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State track & field team is set to continue its outdoor campaign this weekend when the team travels to Prairie View, Texas, for the Big Ten Texas Invitational. 

The meet will be the fourth Big Ten Invitational for the Nittany Lions this season and will feature all 13 programs from the conference. Competition is slated to begin on Friday at 11 a.m. ET with the women's hammer throw. Friday will feature six track events, with th majority of running events scheduled for Saturday. Friday's events begin at 6 p.m. ET. 

Coming off a two-meet weekend, the Nittany Lions have continued to produce strong performances both on the track and in field events. For the second time this season, senior Danae Rivers was recognized as Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week following her 4:14.21 performance in the 1500m run at Indiana last week. The time is the fifth fastest in the NCAA this season. Rivers currently ranks first in the Big Ten in both the 800m and 1500m runs. Penn State athletes rank in the top five in the conference in 19 events thus far this season. Among those 19, Rivers, Kathryn Munks (women's 10k) and Mark Porter (men's javelin) hold the top spot in the Big Ten in their respective events.
