Women's Tennis Ready to Face #10 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio.— The Penn State women's tennis team will travel to Columbus to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes (17-3, 14-1 B1G). The Nittany Lions (10-6, 9-6 B1G) are playing in the regular season finale before the Big Ten Tournament.

LAST TIME OUT
The Nittany Lions earned a pair of 4-3 victories last weekend at home against Wisconsin and Minnesota.
 
Penn State got off to a fast start against Wisconsin, leading in all three doubles matches and clinching the point with wins at No. 2 and 3. Singles matches went back and forth and with the Nittany Lions trailing 2-3, Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N.S. Wales, Australia) and Sofiya Chekhlystova (Talinn, Estonia) earned clutch three-set victories to give Penn State the win.
 
The Nittany Lions celebrated Senior Day with a win over the Minnesota Gophers. Penn State once again claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 3. Seniors O'Gorman and Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.) came away with singles wins and standout freshman Chekhlystova also contributed a singles victory as Penn State earned its tenth win of the season.
 
SCOUTING THE BUCKEYES
The #10 Ohio State Buckeyes will present a formidable challenge to Penn State, as the Buckeyes are currently on a nine-game win streak with its last loss coming against the #20 Michigan Wolverines on Feb. 28. Ohio State came away with a 6-1 win against the Nittany Lions in the last meeting on Mar. 14.
 
Ohio State has a two highly-touted doubles pairings in #62 Kolie Allen and Isabelle Boulais and #68 Luna Dormet and Lisa Hofbauer. #62 Allen/Boulais share a record of 12-2 in dual matches, with all contests coming at the No. 1 spot. The Buckeyes also have an undefeated doubles team in Dormet and Irina Cantos Siemers, who hold a 10-0 record mainly playing at No. 3. In singles, #12 Cantos Siemers is a player to watch with a 14-4 record in dual matches playing at No. 1 and 2. Aside from Cantos Siemers, the Buckeyes have another four players with over 10 singles wins in Boulais, Dormet, Hofbauer, and Lucia Marzal.
