COLUMBUS, Ohio. – The Penn State women's tennis team was defeated by #10 Ohio State in Columbus Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions end the season 10-7 with nine Big Ten wins, the most since the 2014-15 season.
Doubles
Ohio State earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2.
Sofiya Chekhlystova (Talinn, Estonia) and Alexandra Nielsen (Vancouver, B.C., Canada) fell to Lucia Marzal and Lisa Hofbauer 2-6.
Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N.S. Wales, Australia) and Karly Friedland (Hollywood, Fla.) lost to #62 Kolie Allen and Isabelle Boulais 2-6.
Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.) and Olivia Ryan (Victoria, Australia) trailed Irina Cantos Siemers and Luna Dormet 3-4 in an unfinished set.
Singles
Nielsen lost to Marzal 1-6, 0-6.
Alina Lebedeva (Moscow, Russia) fell to Dormet in a 1-6, 3-6 match.
Smith was defeated by Allen 2-6, 3-6.
Friedland was outlasted by Hofbauer 2-6, 3-6.
O'Gorman lost in a 5-7, 1-6 battle to #12 Cantos Siemers.
Chekhlystova defeated Boulais in a 7-5, 4-4 match where Boulais retired.
