BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) paced the Nittany Lions with her best finish of the season tying for 26th in the 98-player field at the Indiana invitational after carding a 2-over, 74, during the final round on Sunday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions struggled closing out the second round this morning but shaved eight strokes off their total during the final round registering an 8-over, 296, finishing tied for ninth with Minnesota at 38-over for the championship.
"This was a penalizing golf course if you missed the fairways or the greens," commented head coach Denise St. Pierre. "We lost a few shots coming in, but all-in-all played steady as a team during the third round."
Kent State won the tournament as the only team under-par at 8-under a full 10 strokes ahead of second-place Maryland at 2-over. Michigan State (6-over), Michigan (13-over) and Northwestern (19-over) rounded out the top-five.
Junior Taylor Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) climbed 20 spots during the final round after carding her lowest score of the season with a team-best 1-over, 73. Classmate Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) joined McLean firing a 2-over, 74, in the final round finishing tied for 38th at 10-over for the championship.
Sophomore Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) rounded out the team scoring with a 3-over, 75, in the final round and finished the weekend tied for 46th.
