Hord, Parker Earn AVCA All-America Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State junior Kaitlyn Hord was named a Division I women's volleyball third-team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Wednesday. Junior Jonni Parker was selected as an honorable mention.

Hord closed a strong junior season with an impressive performance in the NCAA Tournament, totaling 22 kills and just one error on 39 attacks for a .538 hitting percentage. She added eight total blocks over the two matches.

Hord was the team leader in hitting percentage this season, posting a .421 mark with 147 kills, and ranked first on the team in total blocks with 79 and blocks/set (1.32). She tallied at least three blocks in all but one of the team's 16 matches this season, including a career-high 10 in a five-set match at Minnesota. Hord posted double-digit kills eight times, including seven times with a hitting percentage of at least .300.

It's the third-straight year that Hord earned a spot on the AVCA All-America Team. She was a first-team honoree as a sophomore in 2019 and was an honorable mention as a freshman in 2018.

Parker also picked up All-America recognition for the third-straight year. She made the third team as a freshman and was an honorable mention as a sophomore. She led the team in kills (194) and kills/set (3.23). She also contributed in other areas with 129 digs (2.15/set), 53 blocks (0.88/set) and 14 aces.

Penn State has earned 110 All-America honors. The program ranks third in the nation for the most first- and second-team All-Americans.

The Lions closed the season with a record of 10-6 while playing a schedule that included seven matches teams that were a top-10 seed in the NCAA Tournament. They competed in the NCAA Tournament for a 40th-consecutive season and advanced to the Regional Semifinal round for the 18th-straight year.
