FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
How much are we expected to participate?
- Participate as much as possible! The purpose of this program is to find members of Nittany Nation who will remain actively engaged in providing feedback to our Athletics staff. Through conversations with Penn State professors, sports industry executives, and even consumer insights professionals (including our favorite brands such as Starbucks), high participation is key to the success of this program and improving our fan experience and student-athlete experience.
- How many participants have been selected to participate in NLFP? Who does the program consist of?
- The Nittany Lion Feedback Program is beginning with about 2,000 participants! As an invite-only program at this time, we have participants that are intentionally representative of season ticket holders, non-season ticket holders, students, recent grads, etc. across football and fans of our other programs.
- How often will there be surveys distributed for participation?
- You can expect to receive approximately 1-2 surveys per month, throughout the year.
- How long will each survey take me to complete?
- We will always work to keep each survey less than 5 minutes long, and covering usually one topic at a time.
- Are survey topics/results public or private?
- We ask and expect all of our Feedback Program members to please keep all survey topics, questions, and results confidential.
- How long will we serve on the Nittany Lion Feedback Program?
- All Feedback Program members can expect to participate for at least one year! After the first year of the program, we will reevaluate how much our members are participating, and as long as members are actively engaged we wouldl ove for you to continue to guide us as part of this program.
- Who will create the survey questions? Can the members inspire a survey?
- A group of Athletics staff across multiple departments are creating the surveys, collaborating closely with department leaders and Penn State professors.
- We are happy to hear about your ideas! If you have any survey topics you are curious about, please send them to us at NLFP@psu.edu.
- How will the actions resulting from the survey results be communicated?
- When possible, we will share results and reports from previous surveys. Some surveys may have more immediate impacts, while others may be months in the future, or simply context for our understanding. These results will be shared via email with our program members.
- Is this program made up of any “visiting” team fans or completely made up of the view from Penn State fan experience?
- We are prioritizing our Penn State fans as part of our Happy Valley Hospitality Experience. This program is only made up of Penn State fans to ensure we are providing the best experience for you, both at our events and all year long.
- How much time will we have to complete each survey before it shuts off?
- We definitely don’t want to rush you. Our planned routine of 1-2 surveys per month will allow us to keep each survey open for about 1-2 weeks, and with short survey length, hopefully not be a long time commitment for our members.
- Is the committee concerned with just game day experiences or in some cases the whole weekend experience?
- All of the above! Virtual, In Stadium and other venues, you name it!
- Is this program focused mostly on football or all sports?
- While there may be sport-specific surveys, questions, or topics, this program is intended to assist with all Athletics initiatives overall.
- In addition to the surveys, will there be more zoom meetings?
- We don’t have one planned at the moment, but we will let you know via email if we host another one.
- Are any of you (PSU staff) managing the Feedback Program PSU graduates or native to PA?
- Many of our Athletics staff are Penn State grads and/or natives of Pennsylvania, and we are thrilled to have their institutional expertise guiding us with many initiatives. We also meet every week to discuss this program to reflect the values of locals, students, recent grads, and all of our alumni family!
- How will the Nittany Lion Feedback Progam work in conjunction with the Nittany Lion Fan Council?
- The Fan Council is a smaller group of selected fans who meet in person quarterly during the year, and will fit closely with this new Nittany Lion Feedback Program. We see these two programs working really well together for both quantitative and qualitative feedback among both groups.
- Are the surveys coming from the NLFP email address?
- That’s right, all emails will come from NLFP@psu.edu.
- Why are the NLFP emails going to my spam folder?
- In order to ensure that our NLFP emails are reaching your inbox, we recommend you whitelist or approve our email as a sender. "Whitelisting" an email means adding it to your email address book so it doesn’t go to junk mail. Please mark NLFP@psu.edu as an approved sender in your email.
