Sickler Named Big Ten Men's Lacrosse Freshman of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's lacrosse earned its fourth Big Ten award in two weeks as Mark Sickler was named the Freshman of the Week on Tuesday. Sickler received the honor after posting the best statistical performance of his young career in the Lions' game at No. 3 Maryland on Saturday.

Sickler tallied a career-high four points on one goal and a career-high three assists against the Terrapins. He added one ground ball. His assists came on goals by three different players – TJ Malone, Jack Kelly, and Jack Traynor – while his own goal was unassisted.

Sickler has a goal and a ground ball in three consecutive games. For the season, he has three goals, three assists, three ground balls and one caused turnover in five games played, including three as a starter.

The latest award for Penn State comes one week after the Lions earned three honors from the Big Ten. Mac O'Keefe (Offensive Player of the Week), Nick Cardile (Defensive Player of the Week) and Colby Kneese (Specialist of the Week) all picked up accolades from the conference after the team's win over Johns Hopkins.

Penn State is at Panzer Stadium on Saturday when it hosts No. 7 Rutgers at noon.
