Nittany Lion Abby Myers Named to NFHCA National Division I Senior Team

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey player Abby Myers (Hartland, Wis.) has been named to the 2020 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Senior Team. The in-person 2020 NFHCA Senior Game was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the 2021 Virtual Coaches Caucus, the NFHCA Division I membership agreed to continue to recognize a selected group from the graduating class of 2021 who either played or would have played their senior season during the 2020-2021 academic year.

All ten Division I conferences and five NCAA regions that sponsor field hockey are represented on the list of 2020 honorees. The selected student-athletes were nominated by their NFHCA member coach and were chosen based on their career accomplishments.

Myers earned the honor this week on top of being named second team All-Big Ten earlier this year.  The Penn State midfielder had two points off two assists this year and ended her career with 31 points off 12 goals and seven assists. Myers earned second team NFHCA All-Region honors a year ago and earned a spot on the All-Big Ten Tournament Team in 2019 as well.

Penn State went 7-7 this season and ended the year with a 5-2 mark in Big Ten counted conference contests. The 2020 season was delayed until this past spring and the new 2021 campaign will start in August.
