Rivers Advances on Day Two of NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore – Two Nittany Lions were in competition on Thursday on the second day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships at the University of Oregon.

Noah Swaby was in action for the second consecutive day, earning Second Team All-American honors with his 13th place finish in the men's decathlon. Swaby finished strong in the event, placing fourth in the discus and seventh in the javelin before closing out his meet with a season-best 4:39.53 to place sixth in the 1500m.

Competing in her 10th NCAA Championship, Danae Rivers qualified for Saturday's 1500m finals after she placed second in her heat with a time of 4:14.06. Rivers will compete in her final race as a Nittany Lion on Saturday at 6:11 p.m. ET.

Penn State will be represented by two NCAA Championship veterans on Friday, as Maddie Holmberg kicks off the women's heptathlon and David Lucas competes in the men's discus throw. Lucas, a former indoor hammer throw national champion, will be competing in his fourth NCAA Outdoor Championship for Penn State.
