Sophia Gladieux Earns Second Team All-America Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; June 16, 2021 – Penn State freshman forward Sophia Gladieux (Boyertown, Pa.) has been named a second team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.  Gladieux earns the national honor after an outstanding rookie campaign that saw her lead Penn State in scoring.

Gladieux, a true freshman, was Penn State's leading scorer this season.  The Boyertown native had 26 points off a team-best 12 goals and two assists.  Gladieux was also a first-team NFHCA All-Region pick, a first team All-Big Ten selection, a two-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week (March 23, April 18), a Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week (March 23) and the NFHCA National Offensive Player of the Week (March 23).

Gladieux is Penn State's first second team All-American since Cori Conley earned the honor in 2018.  Maddie Morano was a third team selection a year ago.

Penn State, under the guidance of head coach Char Morett-Curtiss, finished the campaign with a 7-7 overall record and ended the year with a 5-2 mark in Big Ten tallied conference games, placing second.
