UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The USA Women's Volleyball Team, including former Penn State greats Haleigh Washington and Micha Hancock, improved to 2-0 at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with a 3-0 (29-27, 25-22, 25-21) win over defending champion China on Monday night.
Washington finished with three kills, one block and two digs in the win, which kept USA in a tie with Italy at the top of the Pool B standings.
Team USA, which opened the event with a 3-0 win over Argentina, is back on the court Thursday morning against Turkey. The match is scheduled for 8:45 a.m., and can be watched live on USA Network or online at NBCOlympics.com.
Turkey is 1-1 in Pool B with a 3-0 win over China and a 3-1 loss to Italy.
Hancock was a three-time All-American for Penn State and won back-to-back national titles with the Nittany Lions in 2013 and 2014. Washington also earned three All-America honors and joined Hancock on the 2014 title-winning team.
