Penn State Announces Cross Country Slate

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State cross country program is set to return to competition this fall as the team announced its 2021 meet schedule on Tuesday.

"The staff is really excited for the cross country season this fall," Head Coach John Gondak said. "We host the Big Ten Championships on campus in October, and we have been building both teams to be ready to excel at home. With our home meets and our trip to Lehigh, which is the course we will run on to advance to the NCAA Championships, our schedule this year is preparing us to be successful in the postseason."

The Nittany Lions will kick-off the 2021 campaign with a dual meet at Lock Haven University on Sep. 4. The team will then compete in its first of three home meets when it hosts the Spiked Shoe Invitational on Sep. 11. The four meet regular season will conclude with the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh on Oct. 1 and the Penn State National Open on Oct. 15.

The Big Ten Cross Country Championships will be held at Penn State on Oct. 29, while the NCAA Mid Atlantic Regional will be held at Lehigh on Nov. 11. The team will have the opportunity to compete in its first meet of the season outside of the state of Pennsylvania on Nov. 20, when the cross country season concludes at Florida State University for the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Fla.
