Transfer Cassie Lindmark Joins Softball Program

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State softball head coach Clarisa Crowell announced Friday the addition of transfer Cassie Lindmark to the 2022 roster. Lindmark, a catcher from Lyons, Ill., spent her first two seasons of college softball at the University of Kentucky.

"I am very excited that Cassie has decided to join our Penn State family, and I know that she will be a great addition to our program," said head coach Clarisa Crowell. "Cassie is an exceptional defensive catcher, but most importantly, she is a hardworking person with high integrity. In addition, Cassie is coming to us from a very successful Kentucky program, and I believe she gained invaluable experiences that will be beneficial for our team. We are looking forward to her arrival this fall!"

"I chose Penn State because the people are great, and it's an excellent school with so much to offer," said Lindmark.

At Kentucky, Lindmark and the Wildcats hosted and won the 2021 Lexington NCAA Regional before falling to Alabama in Supers.

Lindmark played in 34 total games for the Wildcats with 21 starts in two seasons. In the 2021 season she held a .273 batting average and a .429 on-base percentage, as well as a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 50 putouts and two assists.

Academically, she was named to the 2019 SEC first-year honor roll as well as the 2021 SEC spring honor roll.

Prior to college, Lindmark played four years of high school softball at Marist High School in Chicago, Illinois. She helped the RedHawks to a fourth-place finish at state both her sophomore (2016) and senior seasons (2019). In 2016 the RedHawks won regionals, sectionals and super sectionals. Lindmark was named all-conference both her freshman and sophomore year as well as all-state as a sophomore. She earned all-area honors and was the winner of the Golden Glove as a junior in 2018. In her senior season, Lindmark batted .465 with a .543 on-base percentage and .768 slugging percentage. She received the leadership award her freshman year and was the president of science club from 2018-19.

Lindmark joins four freshmen as newcomers to Crowell's 2022 roster.
