Full 2021-22 Schedule
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The 2021-22 women's hockey season is shaping up to be an exciting one in Hockey Valley as the Penn State women's hockey team has released its 34-game regular season schedule.
After a year of conference-only action in 2020-21, the Nittany Lions' new slate includes 18 non-conference contests, including 2020-21 NCAA Tournament qualifiers Boston College, Minnesota Duluth and Ohio State and 2019-20 top seed Cornell.
Pegula Ice Arena will be the site for the Nittany Lions' first six games of the season, starting with a nonconference battle against St. Lawrence Sept. 23-24.
That series will be followed up by two more home series against Boston College Sept. 30-Oct. 1 and Holy Cross Oct. 8-9. PSU's first road series will be at Brown Oct. 23-24.
Penn State is scheduled to play a pair of two-game showcases, the first in late November at the D1 in D.C. showcase against the WCHA opponents Minnesota Duluth and Ohio State in Washington, D.C.
The Nittany Lions second showcase, the Battle in the 'Burgh, will occur January 1-2 in Pittsburgh with the first game against WCHA's St. Cloud State. The other teams featured in the showcase include Boston University and Syracuse.
A couple of midweek matchups with Cornell are also featured on Penn State's schedule this season. The Nittany Lions host the Big Red Jan. 11 and later will travel to Cornell Feb. 8.
The final nonconference series of the season will be a road set against LIU in Brooklyn Feb. 11-12.
The 2020-21 CHA regular season champions look to defend their title in the league's 16-game calendar with four games apiece against Lindenwood, Mercyhurst, RIT and Syracuse.
Penn State's first conference series will be in Erie, Pa. against Mercyhurst Oct. 29-30 and the Nittany Lions will close its regular season at home against RIT Feb. 18-19.
The 2022 CHA Tournament format will feature all five CHA teams in a single-elimination tournament February 24-26 and will be hosted by the league's regular-season champion.
For the first time in program history, the Nittany Lions will host the NCAA Women's Hockey Frozen Four at Pegula Ice Arena featuring the national semifinalists in the NCAA Tournament. The semifinal round will occur March 18 with the national championship being played March 20.
