UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State cross country team hosted its first home meet in nearly two years as the Spiked Shoe Invitational was held at the Penn State Golf Course on Friday morning.
The Nittany Lions were joined by Georgetown, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio State and Syracuse.
On the men's side, Evan Dorenkamp led Penn State with a strong sixth place performance, finishing the 5.2 mil race in 25:26.2. He was joined in the top-20 by Dolan Duals winner Eric Hamel, who crossed the line in 25:46.4 in his home debut.
Two Penn State women posted top-20 finishes, with sophomore Madaline Ullom recording a 6k time of 21.29.0 and freshman Cori McCormick posting a time of 21:37.2.
Penn State will next compete in a trio of October meets beginning with the Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 1. Penn State Golf Course will be the site to the Penn State National Open on Oct. 15 and the Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Oct. 29.
