UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's golf team returns to action Monday and Tuesday when the Nittany Lions head to North Carolina for Wake Forest's Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational.
The 14-team field includes host and nationally-ranked #17 Wake Forest, College of Charleston, Davidson, Duke, East Carolina, Kansas State, Kentucky, Loyola (Md.), Penn State, Rutgers, SMU, Southern Mississippi, UNC-Greensboro and Virginia Tech. The first and second rounds will be played Monday with a 7:30 a.m. start, while Tuesday's third and final round will also tee off at 7:30 a.m.
Junior Patrick Sheehan looks to continue his torrid start to the season after collecting a pair of top-five finishes in Penn State's first two fall tournaments. He was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week on Sept. 15 after carding a career-low 207 (9-under) to finish tied for third place at the Rod Myers Invitational. Freshman Morgan Lofland also looks to continue his strong rookie debut, carrying a 71.83 stroke average through his first two collegiate tournaments. Graduate student Lou Olsakovsky is also back in the starting lineup for the Nittany Lions this weekend.
Sophomores James Allen and Jud Langille are slated to make their 2021-22 debuts at the Old Town Club Collegiate. Allen makes his second appearance as a Nittany Lion after finishing tied for fourth at last year's Rutherford Intercollegiate while playing as an individual. Langille will be making his Penn State debut.
The tournament will be played at Old Town Club's par 70, 6,966-yard course. Live stats and results from the Old Town Club Collegiate will be available on GolfStat. A recap of each day's round and results will be available on GoPSUsports.com.
