ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State men's soccer sophomore Peter Mangione was named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. Mangione shares the honors with Michigan's Kevin Buca.

Mangione netted a hat trick against Villanova at Jeffrey Field on Sept. 21, the program's first hat trick since Corey Hertzog in 2010.

The Hunt Valley, Md. native recorded a single-game career-high six points on those three goals and now holds a team-high 11 points on a team-high five goals and one assist. He is one goal shy of his career-best six set last season as a rookie.

The midfielder/forward's five total goals are tied for first in the conference and is 19th nationally while his 11 total points are also pacing the league and is 37th in the nation. Three of his goals are game-winners, good for first in the Big Ten and third nationally.

The honor is the second of Mangione's career and Penn State's first this season.

Mangione and the Nittany Lions return to Big Ten Conference play on Friday, Oct. 1 at Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will stream live on B1G+.
