ROSEMONT, Ill – Junior Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) earned Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week honors following her first collegiate victory at the 45th annual Nittany Lion Invitational this PAST weekend at the Penn State White Course.
Delavallade carded three-consecutive rounds in red figures, registering just four bogeys the entire weekend while adding 14 birdies to lead Penn State to a 12-stroke victory with a tournament and program record team score of 13-under, 851.
The junior sandwiched a career-low round of 68 (4-under) during the second round between a pair of 69's to finish the weekend at 10-under, 206, the second-lowest 54-hole total in program history. The mark was just one-stroke shy of senior Sarah Willis' (Eaton, Ohio) 54-hole Penn State program record of 11-under, 205, achieved at the 2018 Nittany Lion Invitational.
This marks the first career weekly award for Delavallade as she is the first Nittany Lion to earn Golfer of the Week accolades since Victoria Tip-Aucha (Vienna, Va.) was honored on March 24, 2021.
For Delavallade, this past weekend marked her fourth career top-10 finish and her first since the 2019-20 season.
Penn State is back on the course on Monday as they begin the 17th annual Cougar Classic hosted by the College of Charleston in Hanahan, South Carolina.
