Charlottesville, VA.-- Six Nittany Lions are headed to Charlottesville, Virginia this weekend to compete in Super ITA Regionals, Oct. 22-25.
Penn State women's tennis will travel three doubles pairs this weekend including Gabby O'Gorman/ Sofiya Chekhlystova, Karly Friedland/ Alexandra Nielsen and Yvonna Zuffova/Alina Lebedeva. Three Penn State individual players will also continue in this weekend's competition, Yvonne, O'Gorman and Chekhlystova.
"I'm super excited to be playing in my first Super Regionals this weekend in UVA," said freshman Zuffova. "It's going to be so much fun playing this tournament. I cannot wait to support my team and play some matches."

Last time out the Blue and White faced James Madison, West Virginia, and Louisville in the Martha Thorn Invitational, Oct.15-17.
On day one of competition the Nittany Lions captured 7 team wins, including 4 singles wins and 3 doubles wins. Singles wins were highlighted by Soifya Chekhlystova's 7-6, 6-1 victory as well as freshman Deanna Lasorda's win, 6-4, 6-3. Doubles play was highlighted by a clean sweep of wins from duos O'Gorman/Chekhlystova, Hirsch/Ryan and Friedland/Lebedeva.
Day two of play mirrored Penn State's success from day 1 with a collection of 4 singles wins. These battles were won by Chekhlystova, O'Gorman, Lasorda, and Weinberg. Penn State also collected two doubles wins, earned by O'Gorman/Chekhlystova and Friedland/Ryan.
The Nittany Lions continued their victorious streak throughout day 3 of tournament play, resulting in 4 singles wins to close out their weekend in Morgantown. Chekhlystova, Friedland and O'Gorman earned wins against their competition against West Virginia. Ryan battled for the remaining Penn State win by defeating Momoko Nagato in a 3-set match.
