No. 24 Women's Soccer Falls at Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 24 Penn State women's soccer program fell 2-0 to (RV) Michigan on Thursday evening. The Nittany Lions conclude the regular season against Michigan State on Sunday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Penn State's first shot in the match came in the sixth minute as Olivia Damico blasted a shot just high of the net as she looked to give the Nittany Lions the lead.
 
The scoreless tie was broken in the 18th minute as a cross into the box found the feet of Raleigh Loughman just outside of the six-yard box. Loughman slotted her shot into the lower left corner of the net to give Michigan a 1-0 lead.
 
Two minutes later, Ally Schlegel leapt for a header as she tried to tie the score at 1-1. Her header was unable to beat the keeper and Michigan kept its 1-0 advantage.
 
In the 28th minute, Kerry Abello sent a blast high of frame as the Nittany Lions pressed the Wolverines back line.
 
The Nittany Lions and Wolverines went into the half with Michigan leading 1-0.  
 
In the 59th minute, Sam Coffey played a ball into the box to Natalie Wilson. Wilson sent a shot high of the net as the Nittany Lions continued to try and tie the match.
 
With 20 minutes remaining in the match, Penn State earned its first corner. Michigan cleared the ball from danger as it clinged to its one-goal lead.
 
An unfortunate bounce on a clearance by the Nittany Lions resulted in a Michigan goal and a 2-0 lead for the Wolverines.
 
The score remained 2-0 at the end of 90 minutes.
 
Penn State travels to Michigan State on Sunday, October 24 for the final game of the regular season.
