Four Nittany Lion Field Hockey Players Garner Big Ten Post-Season Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Four members of head coach Char Morett-Curtiss' Penn State field hockey team have earned post-season honors for the 2021-22 Big Ten season with the announcement of the All-Big Ten teams and Sportsmanship Award winners.  The Nittany Lions have two first team honorees, a second team member and a sportsmanship award winner.

Sophomore Sophia Gladieux (Boyertown, Pa.) earned first team All-Big Ten for the second straight season and was one of only two unanimous selections to the team.  Gladieux has amassed 34 points off 16 goals and two assists heading into the Big Ten Tournament. She was a second-team All-American last season and is now a two-time All-Big Ten first teamer.

Junior Mackenzie Allessie (Mount Joy, Pa.) earned first team All-Big Ten laurels for the third straight season and the first as a Nittany Lion.  Allessie enters the Big Ten tournament with 29 points off nine goals and a team-best 11 assists.  Allessie was a third team All-American as a freshman and a first team All-American last year and is now a three-timer on the Big Ten's first team.

Junior back Elena Vos (Grave, The Netherlands) earned second team All-Big Ten honors this season for the second straight season.  Penn State's stopper on its penalty corner offense and the team's defensive leader, Vos has eight points off eight assists this year.  She was a second team All-Region honoree last year.

Senior Hannah Zemaitis (Camp Hill, Pa.) has been named Penn State's Big Ten Field Hockey Sportsmanship Award winner.  Zemaitis will earn her third letter as a Nittany Lion this season and has one assists this year.  She enters the Big Ten Tournament with 12 career goals and six career assists, including two years played at Hofstra.

The Nittany Lions will meet Maryland in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday at 5 p.m.  The tournament is hosted by Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J.  Penn State's Thursday contest can be streamed live on B1G+.
