UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Nittany Lions will host Monmouth in the first round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship beginning at 6 p.m. ET on Friday, November 12 at Jeffrey Field.
 
It is the Penn State women's soccer program's 27th straight trip to the NCAA tournament. PSU is 20-3 in first round matches (received BYEs from first round in 1998, 1999, and 2000), and they currently have an 11-match first round winning streak.

Penn State is 57-24-2 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, advancing to at least the third round of the tournament each of the last four seasons. Erica Dambach has led the Nittany Lions to the College Cup twice and the national championship game in 2012 and 2015, securing Penn State's first national championship in program history in 2015.

Regular Season in Review
PSU faced a strong schedule having the No. 21 RPI among NCAA programs. The Nittany Lions finished the regular season with double digit wins (11-6-0)- a feat that has been accomplished every season in program history. Highlighting the season were four wins over ranked opponents — No. 13 West Virginia, No. 3 Virginia, No. 18 Wisconsin, and No. 19 Purdue.

Last time out
The Nittany Lions' run in the Big Ten Tournament ended in the quarterfinal match with a 3-1 loss at Michigan. Down 2-0 in the 86th minute, PSU prevented a shutout as Ally Schlegel headed the ball into the net off a corner kick by Sam Coffey. It was Schlegel's seventh goal and Coffey's seventh assist of the season.

Last time vs. Monmouth (November 15, 2013)
The No. 24 Nittany Lions shut out Monmouth 3-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Jeffrey Field. Penn State out-shot the Hawks 25-11 with 12 attempts coming on net and notched 10 corner kicks to Monmouth's two.

This match will be the 11th NCAA Tournament career match for Kerry Abello and the seventh for Sam Coffey and Ally Schlegel. In these matches, Coffey has tallied three goals and five assists, while Schlegel has scored 1 goal and recorded four assists. Abello has scored one goal.

Ally Schlegel now has 31 goals in her Penn State career.
