Women’s Lacrosse Announces 2022 Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's lacrosse head coach Missy Doherty announced the 2022 schedule Thursday, featuring seven home games in Happy Valley.
 
"We are so excited to get back to a normal regular season schedule," Doherty said. "We have a lot of great rivals, both in and out of conference, and we are eager to get the 2022 season started.  It will be great to be able to welcome our amazing fans back into Panzer stadium to watch some of the best lacrosse in the country.
 
The Nittany Lions will play their first four games on the road before hosting James Madison on March 9 at Panzer Stadium. Big 10 play begins on March 26 as PSU travels to Columbus to take on Ohio State.
 
Penn State will close out regular season competition on April 28 by hosting Johns Hopkins before turning their attention to the Big 10 Tournament, dates to be determined.
 
Schedule Highlights

  • Penn State will open the 2022 season at Drexel on Feb. 16 in Philadelphia, Pa. They will play their first four games on the road with stops at Duquesne, Cornell, and Loyola.
  • The first home games for the Nittany Lions are slated during Spring Break as they host James Madison on March 9 and Saint Joseph's on March 12.
  • Penn State returns to a normal Big Ten slate this season, hosting Northwestern (April 1), Michigan (April 16), and Johns Hopkins (April 28), while traveling to Ohio State (March 26), Maryland (April 7), and Rutgers (April 23).
  • The Nittany Lions will also travel for one game at in-state foe Pitt (April 12).
  • PSU will face three teams who finished the season ranked top-10 in the last season's final IWLCA coaches poll: No. 4 Northwestern who went undefeated in Big 10 play before falling to No. 3 Syracuse in the NCAA semifinal, No. 9 Loyola Maryland, and No. 10 Maryland.
