Kate Wiesner bound for U23 Women's Youth National Team Training Camp

CHICAGO, Ill. — Penn State junior Kate Wiesner is on the roster to join the U.S. Under-23 Women's Youth National Training Camp held from Jan. 23-28 in Austin, Texas.
 
From Monrovia, California, Wiesner if one of seven current college players to be called up for U-23 camp. She has previously rostered at the U-15, U-17 and U-19 levels.
 
She has served as co-captain of the U-17 National Team, and in 2016 she was a member of the squad that competed in the U-17 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers in Grenada and the U-17 World Cup in Jordan. In 2017, the team won the Torneo Femminile Delle Nazioni Tournament, and in 2018 qualified for the U-17 World Cup in Nicaragua.
 
Wiesner also traveled to China as a member of the U-19 USWNT alongside fellow Nittany Lion teammates with Jordan Canniff and Cori Dyke.
 
Wiesner just completed her junior season at PSU where she played in 19 games for the Nittany Lions, starting in nine. The Nittany Lions would advance to the NCAA Tournament for the 27th consecutive season and to the Sweet Sixteen for the seventh time in eight seasons.
 
The January 2022 camp marks the first activity for the U-23 squad since the fall of 2019. The U-23s will scrimmage against the full USWNT at the end of training camp.
 
The U-23 roster features seven current college players, two current NWSL players with one season of pro experience and nine players that were selected in either the 2021 or 2022 NWSL Drafts, or have their rights held by NWSL clubs, but have yet to play in the league.
