BATTLE IN UPSTATE N.Y.
The Nittany Lions play the first two games in an away series with RIT on Friday, with another matchup vs. RIT back home in Pegula on Feb. 18-19 to finish the regular season.
The Nittany Lions have seen RIT 45 times in their history with Penn State coming out on top with 26 wins, 16 losses, and 3 ties. In the most recent matchup the Nittany Lions shut out the Tigers in a 5-0 win back on Feb. 20, 2021.
The day before, Feb. 19, 2021, the Nittany Lions clinched their first ever CHA regular season championship with another 5-0 victory over the Tigers in Rochester.
HEISING ON TOP
Senior forward Natalie Heising has four multipoint games in her last seven games dating back to Penn State's 3-2 win over UMD Nov. 26. She has six goals and five assists for 11 points during the stretch.
The Wayzata, Minn. native leads the Nittany Lions with 14 goals scored through 21 games this season. With 68 goals and 125 points in her career, Heising has sole possession as the all-time leader in goals and points scored in program history.
ADOLFSSON & COOMEY OLYMPIC BOUND
Former Nittany Lion defender Jessica Adolfsson ('21) and current associate head coach Allison Coomey will both be representing their home countries in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. Adolfsson qualified for the tournament with Team Sweden after defeating France 3-2 in their Olympic qualification tournament.
Adolfsson will head to her first Olympics and become Penn State women's hockey's first Olympian when the final rosters are made official prior the February Games.
Adolfsson has played for the Swedish WNT since 2016. The Linkoping, Sweden native was an All-CHA First Team performer in 2020-21 and an All-CHA Rookie Team honoree in 2018-19. She had 25 career points in 69 games with Penn State from 2018-21.
Coomey joins Team USA as a team scout after holding several roles with USA Hockey in the past, including as its U23 head coach at the USA Hockey Women's National Festival in 2021.
