Katie Schoepfer ready for first USGNT U-15 training camp as head coach

CHICAGO, Ill. — Penn State alumna Katie Schoepfer is gearing up to lead her first training camp as head coach of the Under-15 U.S. Girls National Team in January.
 
Schoepfer, who was appointed as the U-15 USGNT head coach in November, will bring 36 players to the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. from Jan. 16-23 for the team's annual camp.
 
She has previously served as an assistant with the U-16, U-17 and U-20 U.S. National Teams. From 2017 to 2019, she was an assistant coach for the College of the Holy Cross.
 
Hailing from Waterford, Connecticut, Schoepfer has played professionally in the WPS and NWSL and finished her career with the Boston Breakers after six seasons and 100 appearances.
 
A 2010 graduate of Penn State, Schoepfer was a four-year starter for the Nittany Lions, totaling 48 goals during her collegiate career. In that time, she garnered multiple awards including NSCAA All-American (2007, 2009), first team NSCAA Scholar All-American (2009), Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year (2009), Big Ten All-Conference (2007-2009) and Big Ten All-Freshman team (2006).
 
She was also a nominee for the Senior CLASS Award and a semifinalist for the 2009 Mac Hermann trophy.
 
She received her bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies.
