Johnson Named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Big Ten Conference announced Wednesday that Penn State freshman Allison Johnson has been named the conference's Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Johnson shined in her Penn State track debut at the Nittany Lion Challenge, winning the 1000m run with a time of 2:43.12. The time ranks first in both the NCAA and Big Ten this season. It also ranks second in Penn State history behind Danae Rivers' collegiate record of 2:38.58.
 
She becomes the first Penn State freshman to claim the women's honor on the track since Rivers in February 2017.
 
The Nittany Lions will once again be in action at home this week when they host the Penn State National Open on Friday and Saturday.
