Johnson Repeats as Big Ten Athlete of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – For the second consecutive week, the Big Ten Conference has announced that Penn State freshman Allison Johnson has been named the conference's Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

A week after posting the top 1000m time in the NCAA in her Penn State track debut, Johnson recorded the fastest mile in the Big Ten this season with a time of 4:37.44. The time is the fifth fastest in the NCAA this season and ranks as the second fastest mile in Penn State history.

Johnson becomes the first freshman to win two Big Ten Women's Indoor Athlete of the Week awards in one season since Michigan State's Tori Franklin in 2012. She is the first Nittany Lion to win two Athlete of the Week awards in the same season since Danae Rivers in 2019.

The Nittany Lions will once again be in action at home this week when they host the Sykes Sabock Challenge on Saturday.
