Gators Invitational Day One Results
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Penn State men's golf team sits 10th of 14 teams after the opening day of Florida's Gator Invitational. Graduate student Lou Olsakovsky is tied for 11th to lead the Nittany Lions after Saturday's action at Mark Bostick Golf Course.
The Nittany Lions finished the day at 10-over, 570. Penn State shot a 4-over, 284, in the first round and a 6-over, 286, in the second round.
Olsakovsky put together a strong second round to catapult into a tie for 11th place through the first 36 holes. After shooting a 1-over, 71, in the opening 18, Olsakovsky carded six birdies and an eagle in the second round to finish 3-under, 67, and cement himself into a tie for 11th place at 2-under, 138, on the day.
Patrick Sheehan is also in the top 20 after the opening 36 holes, sitting in a tie for 18th at 1-under, 139. Sheehan shot a 3-under, 67, in the opening round thanks to three birdies in his final five holes of the opening 18. He carded a 2-over, 72, in the second round.
Jimmy Meyers is tied for 60th at 7-over, 147. His day was highlighted by a 1-over, 71, in the morning round. He fired a 6-over, 76, in the second round.
James McHugh and James Allen both currently sit tied for 67th at 9-over, 149, through the first two rounds. McHugh shot 5-over, 75, in the first 18 and 4-over, 74, in the afternoon. Allen was 6-over, 76, in the first 18, but rebounded nicely with a 3-over, 73, in the second 18 holes.
Action at the Florida Gators Invitational concluded Sunday with the final 18 holes beginning with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is available via GolfStat.
