Bothun Named CHA Goaltender of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Penn State sophomore goaltender Josie Bothun was named the CHA goaltender of the week for the seventh time this season as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

In three starts last week, all in nonconference action, Bothun did not allow a goal and picked up two shutouts. She also had a combined shutout with Cam Leonard last Friday at LIU.

The Wyoming, Minn., native had a 16-save shutout at Cornell last Tuesday to begin the week. After the split in time on Friday at LIU, Bothun added another shutout Saturday against the Sharks with 12 saves to her name.

Saturday's shutout was the eighth of the season for Bothun, which set a new program single-season record for shutouts.

Bothun's stellar season numbers improved to the following after Penn State's three wins last week: 17-9-4 record (program record for wins in a season), 1.66 goals-against average, .925 save percentage in 30 games, all of which are starts.

Bothun's seven weekly goaltender awards from the conference are also a record for a Penn State netminder.

Penn State completes its regular season with a two-game set at home against RIT this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 18-19, at Pegula Ice Arena. Friday's game is set for 2 p.m. with Saturday's senior day game, presented by the Penn State Alumni Association, scheduled for 1 p.m.
