Four Penn State Swimmers Make Finals On Day Two of Big Ten Championships

Madison, Wisc. – Penn State Women's Swimming & Diving began the first day of individual competition of the Big Ten Championships with two NCAA B standards and three personal all-time bests. 
 
The Nittany Lions five top-24 finishes place them in 10th with 152 points as the second of four days of competition concludes at the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
 
Senior Olivia Jack led Penn State's finalists in the 50 free. Jack swam to 15th place in in the B-final with a time of 22.49, a personal all-time best and an NCAA B standard. She now holds Penn State's seventh fastest 50 free. 
 
In the C-final of the 50 free junior Abbie Amdor and sophomore Cat Stanford finished 23rd and 24th with times of 22.85 and 22.89. In prelims Amdor swam a 22.61 50 free, Penn State's ninth fastest and an all-time personal best.
 
Senior Madison Murtagh earned a spot in finals in the 500 free this morning with an all-time personal best of 4:47.91. She swam in the C-final of the event and placed 22nd overall (4:48.35). 
 
Nittany Lion Relays
The Nittany Lions placed sixth in the 400 medley in 3:33.47. The team of seniors Marie Schobel, Olivia Jack and Madison Ledwith and junior Abbie Amdor narrowly missed the NCAA B standard by a hundredth of a second. 
 
Nittany Lion Divers
On the boards senior Sierra Shurts and junior Wei Wei placed 34th and 35th with scores of 232.80 and 226.30.
 
The women will continue competition on Friday with prelims beginning at 11 a.m. ET/ 10 a.m. CT and finals starting at 6:30 p.m. ET/ 5:30 p.m. CT. All sessions can be streamed on BTN Plus while live stats and results are available at the provided link and on Meet Mobile.
