Nittany Lions at the NCAA Indoor Championships:

BIRMINGHAM, Pa. – Three members of the Penn State track & field team competed on the first day of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday.
 
Junior Evan Dorenkamp was up first, placing 12th in the men's mile with a time of 4:02.35. Dorenkamp closes out a tremendous indoor season where he set the Penn State mile record (3:55.02), recorded the fourth fastest 1000m run in program history (2:21.33) and the fifth fastest 3000m run in program history (8:01.84).
 
Big Ten 800m Champion Allison Johnson and Big Ten 800m silver medalist Victoria Tachinski competed in the women's 800m, with Tachinski placing 11th (2:05.39) and Johnson placing 14th (2:08.69). It wraps up a year that saw the Nittany Lions' women's 800m team ranked first in the NCAA. Johnson set the program record in the event with a time of 2:02.84. As a group, Johnson, Tachinski, Rachel Gearing and Victoria Vanriele recorded four of the top five times in program history.
 
Penn State will wrap up the indoor season on Saturday when Mallory Kauffman competes in the women's shot put at 8 p.m. ET.
