UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Thursday that Penn State junior Mallory Kauffman has been named Mid-Atlantic Region Field Athlete of the Year.
Kauffman jumped up the Penn State all-time shot put list this season, recording the third best throw in program history at the Penn State Tune Up (17.19m). The throw qualified her for the NCAA Indoor Championships where she earned Second Team All-America honors. She finished the season ranked 13th in the NCAA in the event.
Kauffman and the Nittany Lions will look to carry their success into the outdoor season when the season begins this weekend at the Penn Relays.
