Bailey Parshall Named Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill.- The Big Ten conference announced on Monday afternoon that senior pitcher Bailey Parshall was named Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week. She's the first player to win a player of the week award for the Nittany Lions this season.

In four appearances last week, Parshall went 4-0 with wins over Pittsburgh, Cornell, and two wins over Rider. Through 21 innings pitched, Parshall allowed no runs, seven hits, and struck out 27. She pitched two complete game shutouts, one against Pitt on Wednesday and the other against Rider on Friday.

Parshall has been on a tear to start the 2022 season.  She is 10-3 with a 1.44 ERA through 97.1 innings pitched. Parshall surpassed 500 career strikeouts in Friday night's win over Rider and continues to break records almost every game.

She is the first Nittany Lions to win a Big Ten weekly award since Parshall won the same award back in March 2020. The last Nittany Lion to win a weekly award other than Parshall was Marlaina Laubach, who was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week in April of 2016.

Parshall and the Nittany Lions continue their homestand Tuesday night with a game against Saint Francis (Pa.). First pitch is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcasted on the B1G+ network. Penn State will open Big Ten play against Maryland on Friday.
