Men's Lacrosse Hosts Maryland Sunday on B1G Network

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State men's lacrosse opens Big Ten play Sunday night as it hosts No. 1 Maryland at Panzer Field. The game will air live on B1G Network at 7 p.m.

The Nittany Lions are 2-6 on the season after three-straight one-goal losses. They have suffered for one-goal losses on the season, including two to teams ranked in the top 10 of the USILA Coaches Poll at the time of the game. The Terrapins are unbeaten at 7-0 and are coming off a 23-12 win over No. 2 Virginia.

Fans are encouraged to dress accordingly for the team's annual Wear White game!

• Penn State trails 44-3 in the all-time series with Maryland The Terrapins won both matchups during the 2021 season.
• The teams first played in 1916.

HONORING THE 1962 TEAM
• The 1962 Penn State men's lacrosse team will be honored between the first and second quarters of Sunday's game.
• The 1962 team, coached by Dick Pencek, went 7-3 with wins over Loyola, Washington & Lee, Penn, Lafayette, Rutgers, Lehigh, and Swarthmore.

HONORING GRANT AMENT
• Penn State great Grant Ament '20 will be honored between the third and fourth quarters of Sunday's game.
• Ament, a three-time All-American for Penn State, was a Tewaaraton finalist in 2019 after leading the Lions to their first Big Ten regular season and Tournament titles and first appearance in the NCAA Final Four. He set NCAA records for assists (96) and assists/game (5.65) that season.
• Ament finished his career with 284 points on 93 goals and 191 assists. He is the Big Ten record holder in career assists and ranks second in points.

BIG WINS IN THE TAMBRONI ERA
• Penn State has 12 wins all-time against opponents ranked in the top five nationally, and eight of those wins have come during head coach Jeff Tambroni's 12 seasons with the team.
• During the Tambroni era, Penn State has one win over a top-ranked team, one win over a second-ranked team, two wins over third-ranked teams, one win over a fourth-ranked team and three wins over fifth-ranked teams.
• The most recent of Penn State's top-five wins came over No. 5 Yale 10-6 on Feb. 26 of this season.
