Penn State breaks four school records at 2022 NCAA Championships

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The fourth and final day of the NCAA Championships at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia has concluded. 
 
Day Four:
The Nittany Lions swam in prelims in the 200 back, 100 free and 200 breast. Senior Michael Daly competed in the 200 back and came in 28th place with a time of 1:41.04, dropping his entry time by 0.25 seconds. Freshman Victor Baganha swam in the 100 free and came in 32nd place with a time of 42.29, dropping his entry time by 0.22 seconds. Junior Daniel Raisanen swam in the 200 breast and came in 27th place with a time of 1:53.79, dropping his entry time by 0.24 seconds and breaking a school record held by Mitch Scherer in 2012 with a time of 1:56.78. No individual swimmers qualified for finals tonight.
 
Day Three:
The Nittany Lions swam in prelims in the 400 IM, 100 fly, 100 breast. Daly competed in the 400 IM and came in 28thplace with a time of 3:45.22. In the 100 fly Baganha came in 17th place with a time of 45.18 and broke the school record. He dropped his time by 0.01 seconds. Raisanen came in 18th place in the 100 breast with a time of 51.96. He broke the school record and dropped his time by 0.16 seconds. No individual swimmers qualified for finals on Friday.
 
During finals was the 400-medley relay. Penn State's team contributors were junior Lachlan Byrne, Raisanen, Baganha and senior William Roberson. They came in 23rd place with a time of 3:06.40.
 
Day Two:
The Nittany Lions swam in prelims in the 200 IM and 50 free. Daly competed in the 200 IM and came in 44th place with a time of 1:44.91. In the 50 free Baganha came in 26th place with a time of 19.31. No individual swimmers qualified for finals on Thursday.
 
During finals was the 200 free relay. Penn State's team contributors were Baganha, senior William Roberson, senior Tommy Hurley and Byrne. They were disqualified for an early take-off. 
 
Day One:
The 200 Medley team contributors were Byrne, Raisanen, Baganha and Roberson. 
 
The relay team came in 21st place and broke a school record with a time of 1:23.85. They broke the school record time of 1:24.05 which they set at the Princeton Last Chance Meet on March 5th. 2022. 
 
What is next:
The Nittany Lions are finished competing at the 2022 NCAA Championships. This concludes their 2021-2022 season.
