Nittany Lions Make Return to 126th Penn Relays

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State track and field teams are set to return to Philadelphia to compete in the 126th rendition of the historic Penn Relays hosted by the University of Pennsylvania from Thursday through Saturday.

Collegiate action at Franklin Field will kick off on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. on the field with the women's hammer throw. Action on the track starts at 5:35 p.m. with the women's 400-meter hurdle championships. Competition resumes at noon on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The Nittany Lions are expected to compete in 12 relay events and 36 individual events throughout the three days of collegiate competition this weekend.

2019 PENN RELAYS
The last time the Nittany Lions competed at the Penn Relays saw the women's sprint medley relay team set a new school record in the event en route to winning the Sprint Medley Championship of America. The quartet of Brooke-Lynn Williams, Kiara Lester, Alexis Holmes and 800-meter record-holder Danae Rivers clocked a first-place finishing time of 3:45.25.

Three-time All-American Morgan Shigo also came out on top in the men's hammer throw championship, outthrowing the field with a distance of 71.45m (234-4) to secure his first Penn Relays watch.

Other standout performances saw the women's 4x100 team of Brooke-Lynn Williams, Amariah Thomas, Kiara Lester, and Alexis Holmes finish third in the 4x100 Championship of America Invitational with a time of 44.59 seconds, which ranks as the fourth-fastest time in Nittany Lion history for the event.

Devin Bradham saw a second-place finish in the men's high jump championship after clearing the height of 2.15m (7.05) on his final attempt.
