UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Penn State softball senior Ally Kurland was named to the 2021-22 CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball team for District 2 Thursday morning. District 2 is made up of schools from Washington, D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The designated player from Burke, Va. earned the nod with a 3.54 GPA while pursuing a degree in Security & Risk Analysis. She is the 13th Nittany Lion to win the award and first since Lisa Akamine in 2011.

On the field, Kurland leads the Nittany Lions in home runs (16), RBI (44), and doubles (18). Her 18 doubles in 2022 are tied for the most in a single season in program history. She also sits ninth all-time in program history in doubles (31) and fourth in home runs (27).

Kurland was named Big Ten Player of the Week in early April after Penn State's sweep over Purdue, becoming the first Nittany Lion to win the award since Alyssa VanDerveer in 2015.
