UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State women's soccer alumna Sam Coffey was named to the 26-player U.S. Women's National Team roster for a pair of friendlies against Colombia on June 25 and June 28 announced on Monday.

She also spent time in camps with the U.S. U-18s and U-19s and traveled to Spain with the U.S. U-23s in 2019.

Coffey joins fellow PSU alum and goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher on the roster. Naeher is also on the 23-player roster that will represent the USA in Mexico at the 2022 Concacaf W Championship.

Coffey closed out her collegiate career at Penn State having played 102 games in her career with 101 starts. In her career she posted 42 goals and 54 assists, making her just one of 50 members in NCAA Division I soccer to eclipse 40 goals and 40 assists in their career.

She is a two-time All-American and was a member of the 2020-21 Big Ten regular season championship team and the 2019 Big Ten Tournament Championship team.

This season for the Thorns, Coffey has started in eight matches and is averaging 83 minutes per game. On June 8, Coffey tallied her first professional assist in the NWSL regular season in a match versus the San Diego Wave.
