UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.- Katie O'Donnell, a 2018 graduate of Penn State, is playing professional lacrosse for Athletes Unlimitted this summer.
Athletes Unlimitted Lacrosse launched this league in 2021. The second season in 2022 began on July 21 at the USA Lacrosse Headquareters. Each week, the top four players become captains and draft their teams for the following week's games. In the scoring system, each player can lose or win points during every game and can score points individually or as a team.
O'Donnell was selected for the league and has played for Team Read three times, Team Apuzzo three times and Team Colson three times.
She has tallied eight goals, one assist, 17 draw controls, 12 ground balls and seven caused turnovers so far this season.
The West Chester, Pa. native was named Interim Head Women's Lacrosse Coach at Drexel in June of 2022 after serving as an assistant coach for the Dragons in 2021 when they won their conference title for the first time in program history.
O'DONNELL AT PENN STATE
In her senior season as a Nittany Lion, O'Donnell earned several accolades. She was named IWLCA First Team All-America, was selected to Inside Lacrosse Second Team All-America, was and all Big Ten Selection, and was named Big Ten Midfielder of the Year to become the first one in program history. O'Donnell played in the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game and was tabbed IWLCA First Team All-Region. She ended her career as a Nittany Lion fourth all-time in goals (203) and sixth in points (227).
In the 2018 WPLL draft, O'Donnell was selected fourth by the New England Command.
