UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's golf rising senior Patrick Sheehan is set to compete in the U.S. Amateur Championship next week for the second-straight year after qualifying in late July.
The 122nd U.S. Amateur Championship, scheduled for Aug. 15-21, will be played at The Ridgewood Country Club, in Paramus, N.J.
Sheehan earned his second-straight trip to the U.S. Amateur after finishing at 9-under, 137, in a July 21st qualifier at Chambersburg Country Club. The Nittany Lion carded a remarkable round of 8-under, 65, in the second round to secure his qualifying status.
Sheehan is coming off a standout junior season in the Blue & White in which he led the Nittany Lions with a 70.94 stroke average through 36 rounds and qualified for NCAA Regionals as an individual. He tallied six top-10 finishes and nine top-15 placements throughout his junior campaign, earning GCAA All-Northeast Region honors and second team All-Big Ten accolades.
