ROME – Penn State swimmers Daniel Raisanen and Will Lulek, diver Daphne Wils and alum Shane Ryan each competed at the 2022 European Championships from Friday, Aug. 11-Wednesday Aug. 17.
Raisanen, a returning senior, competed in three individual events and two relays. The Penn State record-holder swam the breaststroke events, placing 17th in the 200 (2:14.48), 18th in the 100 (1:01.35) and 24th in the 50 (28.24). In the 4x100 medley and mixed medley relays, he helped Sweden finish 12th and 9th overall.
Lulek, also a returning swimmer, represented Sweden in three individual events. He touched 17th in the 400 IM (4:26.15), 25th in the 200 Breast (2:17.89) and 15th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.21, a personal record.
Wils notably placed eighth in the 1-meter. The graduate diver also competed for the Netherlands in the 3-meter, finishing in 14th. She will represent Penn State this upcoming season as a transfer student.
Penn State alum Ryan swam the 50 Back at the championships in Rome, earning a 13th place for Ireland with a time of 25.19.
