Rod Myers Invitational Day 1 Results
DURHAM, N.C. – The Penn State men's golf team wrapped up the first day of competition of the 2022-23 season Friday at Duke's Rod Myers Invitational, with senior Patrick Sheehan and sophomore Jake Griffin leading the way for the Nittany Lions.
Penn State currently sits 11th in the strong 14-team field. The Nittany Lions saw a seven-stroke improvement in the second round, shooting a 6-over, 294, compared to the 13-over, 301, in the opening 18 holes. Penn State enters Saturday's final round at 19-over, 595.
Sheehan is currently tied for 16th place after shooting an even 144. The senior carded a 1-under, 71, in the opening round and a 1-over, 73, in the afternoon round.
Griffin fired a 4-over, 76, in the first round, but rebounded nicely with a 2-under, 70, in the second round. The sophomore enters Saturday's final round at 2-over, 146, and in a tie for 23rd place.
Junior James Allen currently sits tied for 54th at 8-over, 152. Sophomore Morgan Lofland is tied for 57th at 9-over, 153. Senior Jimmy Meyers shot a 14-over, 158, and is tied for 73rd.
The third and final round of the Rod Myers Invitational begins with 7:35 a.m. tee times Saturday. Live scoring is available on GolfStat.
