Old Town Club Collegiate Final Results
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Penn State men's golf team finished competition at Wake Forest's Old Town Club Collegiate Tuesday afternoon with a 7-under, 833, marking the third-lowest 54-hold tournament score in program history.
The Nittany Lions' 833 is tied for the third-lowest score in Penn State history behind a score of 820 at the 2022 James Madison Invitational and a score of 828 at the 2021 Old Town Club Collegiate. Penn State also shot an 833 at the 2017 Seminole Intercollegiate and the 2017 Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
Penn State carded a 1-under, 279, in Tuesday's final round after shooting a pair of 3-unders, 277, in Monday's opening two rounds. The Nittany Lions finished fourth in the strong 11-team field, behind only Kansas State (12-under, 828), #19 Wake Forest (11-under, 829) and Furman (9-under, 831).
Sophomore Jake Griffin secured the best finish of his collegiate career, finishing in third place at 6-under, 204. His 204 is tied for the ninth-best individual 54-hole score in program history. Griffin carded a 1-under, 69, in Tuesday's final round to collect his first-career top-5 finish.
Senior Patrick Sheehan collected his 11th-career top-15 finish, placing tied for 12th at 2-under, 208. Sheehan shot a 1-under, 69, Tuesday to move up five spots on the final day.
Sophomore Morgan Lofland was steady throughout the event, shooting an even 70 Tuesday to finish tied for 24th at an even 210.
Freshman Billy Pabst Jr. wrapped up his first collegiate event tied for 34th at 3-over, 213. He carded a 1-over, 71, in Tuesday's final round.
Junior James Allen finished tied for 52nd at 12-over, 222.
The Nittany Lions return to action in two weeks at the Georgetown Intercollegiate. The event will be played at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, N.J. on Oct. 10-11.
