UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – No. 11/12 Penn State Football welcomes Northwestern to Beaver Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The contest, presented by the PA Pork Producers Council, will air on ESPN with Bob Wischusen (play-by-play), Dan Orlovsky (analyst) and Kris Budden (sideline) on the call.
Fans are encouraged to visit Game Day Central for all information as it relates to Penn State football game day traffic, parking, clear bag policy and information on the match up. Real time traffic, parking and gate information will be shared on the Beaver Stadium Twitter account (@beaver_stadium).
Beaver Stadium gates will open two hours before kickoff. Fans are strongly encouraged to arrive early to ease the entry process. For the first 45 minutes after gates open, early arriving fans will have an opportunity to receive $1 off for every $5 purchased at the concession stands. Beer is excluded from this discount offer.
Happy Valley Hospitality/Tailgating Reminders
- Penn State Athletics reminds fans to be respectful, show their Happy Valley Hospitality and exhibit the behaviors to make Beaver Stadium game day safe. Be loud, proud, respectful, responsible, great fans and gracious hosts.
- Fans are asked to please be alert to cars entering and exiting the parking lot.
- Intercollegiate Athletics has also worked diligently on recycling and sustainability across ICA events and activities. Those sustainability efforts include making recycling bags available in the Beaver Stadium parking lots. Fans are encouraged to be environmentally responsible and participate in Penn State's recycling and sustainability efforts by separating recyclable items before, during and after the game.
- Blue recycling bags and clear trash bags are located throughout the Beaver Stadium parking lots. Bottles and cans only should be placed in the blue recycling bags. All other items should be placed in the clear trash bags.
On-Field Pregame Show Begins at 3:10 p.m.
- Fans are asked to arrive for the start of the on-field pregame show begining at 3:10 p.m.
- The show features the Penn State Traditions video, the Penn State Blue Band, cheerleaders, Lionettes and The Nittany Lion.
Saturday is All U-Day and a BBQ Rib Cook-Off
- The annual All-University (All-U) Day will include involvement of student representatives from all Penn State campuses during halftime.
- The Northwestern game is presented by PA Pork Producers Council, which will host the first BBQ Rib Cook-Off prior to the game at the Beaver Stadium Block Party on Curtin Road.
- Those competing in the BBQ Rib Cook-Off will be Doan's Bones Barbeque, BBQ by Clem, Curt's Smokin' Ribs and Blazin' Bigfoot BBQ.
- This year's judges will be: men's ice hockey head coach Guy Gadowsky, women's basketball head coach Carolyn Kieger, baseball head coach Rob Cooper, softball head coach Clarisa Crowell and Lady Lion radio color analyst, Joe Putnam.
- The BBQ Rib Cook-Off will start at 2:05 p.m. on the Weis Markets Tailgate Show outside of Beaver Stadium on the main stage.
- During the first quarter, the winner of the cook-off will be announced live on the field.
- The winner will then join Steve Jones on the Penn State Radio Network at halftime to discuss the cook-off.
National Champions Honored
- Penn State will honor its 2021-22 National Champions during the first half of the game on Saturday.
- The 2021-22 National Champion Penn State wrestling team and Penn State gymnastics' Chase Clingman, who was a national champion in the pommel horse, will be honored on the field.
Team Arrival and Beaver Stadium Block Party
- The Beaver Stadium Block Party begins at 10:30 a.m.
- Live music from Velveeta will be performed on the Team Arrival stage from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Team arrival is scheduled for approximately 1:30 p.m.
- The team will come off the Blue Buses and walk from Porter Road to the South Tunnel.
- The Penn State Blue Band will march down the middle of the Block Party approximately one hour before the start of each game.
Fans Advised to Reinstall Penn State Athletics Mobile App
- The official mobile app of Penn State Athletics has moved.
- If fans downloaded the mobile app prior to April 28, 2022, they are required to download a new app, as the app used last year is no longer supported.
- If your app is titled "Nittany Lions," you have the current Penn State Athletics app.
- If fans are unsure if they downloaded the Penn State Athletics app prior to April 28, 2022, follow these instructions to confirm.
- First, delete the previous version of the app on your phone entirely.
- Second, go to either the Google Play or App Store on your phone and search "Penn State Nittany Lions" and click the download button.

Game Day Traffic Pattern
- Penn State football's game day traffic pattern will be in place once again this season.
- Please visit gopsusports.com/gameday to get to know your route to Beaver Stadium before you depart for the game.
- One-way traffic patterns will begin at 11:30 a.m. this Saturday.
- With the ongoing Atherton Street construction project in State College, fans are asked to keep up to date with the construction and travel restrictions by visiting www.penndot.gov. Motorists can also stay up-to-date on the latest travel conditions by visiting www.511PA.com. All lanes will remain open on Friday and Saturday.
Parking
- Parking lots will open at 8 a.m. this Saturday.
- New this year, day of game parking can no longer be purchased at select lots and can only be purchased (cash or credit) at Lot 36.
- Game day parking sales will begin when lots open until sold out or kickoff, whichever comes first.
- General parking purchased in advance is $50 per car, while paying to park on game day when arriving to the general lots will cost $60.
- Fans are encouraged to purchase parking passes in advance to not only to benefit from the savings, but to assist in smoother traffic and parking operations by displaying the pass as they approach roads to stadium parking.
- Fans are asked to please display their parking permit from their rear-view mirror as they enter the traffic pattern. Parking permits will be scanned upon entry into the lots. Patrons should approach their parking lot as directed on the back of their parking permit.
- In the event game day parking is exhausted, parking is available at the East, Nittany, Eisenhower and HUB parking decks on campus while space is available. In addition, there is parking at the Grange Fairgrounds. Fans should enter through the South or the West to access the campus parking decks.
Mobile Ticketing
- Mobile ticketing continues to be the delivery method for Penn State Football tickets for all games in Beaver Stadium.
- Please make sure to download mobile tickets to your Apple Wallet or Google Pay on your phone in advance of game day.
- For step-by-step instructions on how to do this, please visit gopsusports.com/mobiletickets.
- Multiple charging stations are located in and around Beaver Stadium, as well as the external customer relations booths. The kiosks have charging units and adapters for iOS and Android devices.
- To assist in the gate entry process, mobile ticket scanners and walkthrough metal detectors are at every entry point. There will be additional magnetometers and signage at various gates this season for improved security screening to streamline gate entry.
Concessions Discounts for Early Arriving Fans; Beaver Stadium Gates Open at 10 a.m.
- Early arriving fans every Saturday will have an opportunity to receive discounts at the concession stands.
- Beaver Stadium gates open this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Fans will receive one dollar off for every five dollars spent at the during the first 45 minutes after the gates are open. Alcohol is excluded from this deal.
- Beer is excluded from this discount offer.
- Cash, credit card and LionCash purchases are accepted at the concourse concession stands.
Penn State Athletics ot Begin Beer Sales at Beaver Stadium on Saturday
- Penn State Athletics will begin beer sales at Beaver Stadium on Saturday.
- Beer offerings will be available for purchase throughout Beaver Stadium, with the exception of areas near the student section.
- All patrons 21 years of age and older who purchase alcohol will be required to show government ID to obtain a wristband. Further, all IDs will be scanned to confirm they are legitimate.
- Patrons can purchase a maximum of two beverages (16 oz. cans) at any one time. All beer locations will be cashless. Alcohol sales will conclude at the end of the third quarter, and alcohol is not permitted to leave the stadium.
- Using their Happy Valley Hospitality, fans are encouraged to be loud and proud, be respectful and responsible, and be great fans and gracious hosts. Let's keep our Beaver Stadium game day experience safe and one of the best in the country!
Fans Reminded of Updated Penn State Athletics Bag Policy
- Penn State University's policy has undergone several revisions.
- To make the clear bag policy more fan friendly, and to align with policies in place for large events around the country, the size of allowed bags has increased. Clear tote bags, which can be sized 12" x 6" x 12" or smaller, will be permitted.
- In addition, a 4" x 6" x 1" small clutch or wristlet will continue to be permissible.

CATA Shuttle Service
- CATA will be providing service to the Penn State football home games this season via the Game Day Football Shuttle.
- The South Atherton Shuttle serves the many hotels along South Atherton St. and several other parking areas.
- Information on service updates and real-time route and schedule information are available through the myStop mobile app and at realtime.catabus.com.
RV Parking Sold Out; RV Spaces and Weekend Shuttle Available at Grange Park
- All game day, season RV and Overnight RV is sold out for the 2022 season.
- Fans who do not have a RV parking permit will need to make other arrangements and Penn State Athletics has identified Grange Park as an economical alternative with hook-ups and shuttle service to campus on Friday and Saturday of home football weekends.
- Fans interested in parking their RV at Grange Park can reserve a spot by calling 814-364-9212.
Guest Services Booths
- Penn State has guest services booths located inside Beaver Stadium at Gates B, C, E and F on the field level.
- There also is a guest services booth on the North concourse, two on the South concourse and one in the North upper deck.
- Fan assistance also is provided by the customer relations staff, by texting the word "Nittany" your issue and location to the phone number 69050, or by calling 1-800-NITTANY.
Postgame One-Way Traffic Pattern in Effect for Approximately 90 Minutes
- University Police has indicated to Intercollegiate Athletics that the vast majority of pedestrian traffic typically clears the Beaver Stadium area approximately 90 minutes after a game ends.
- The out-bound one-way traffic pattern will be in effect from the of end of the contest for approximately 90 minutes and fans will be required to leave their lot via the directions for their specific traffic zone. During the vast majority of the game, there is a normal traffic pattern around Beaver Stadium.
- Once the one-way out-bound traffic pattern ends (approximately 90 minutes after the game), fans will be able to exit their lot and leave the stadium vicinity via any route.
