UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State cross country competed at the Notre Dame Invitational Friday, with the women (302) earning 12th place in the 5,000-meter race and the men (642) coming in at 21st place on a five-mile course.
The women finished ahead of seven regionally ranked squads: 13th-place Vanderbilt (No. 6 in South Region), 14th-place Butler (No. 9 Great Lakes Region), 15th-place Charlotte (No. 8 in Southeast Region), 16th-place Southern Utah (No. 9 in Mountain Region), 17th-place Purdue (No. 8 in Great Lakes Region), 18th-place Navy (No. 6 in Mid-Atlantic Region) and 19th-place SMU (No. 5 in South Central Region).
Both fields feature highly-touted schools, as the men squared off against six nationally ranked teams and 13 others slotted in their respective regional rankings, and the women's race featured five top-25 teams and 13 others placed in regional rankings.
