UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.- Junior forward Peter Mangione adds two accolades to his career. He was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and he was selected to the College Soccer News Men's National Team of the Week
Mangione scored three goals in just two games over the weekend. Against No. 18 West Virginia, he notched two goals. His first point came from a header to the top left corner of the net to tie the score at 1-1 in the first half. After a penalty in the West Virginia box, he had another opportunity. His penalty goal was the game-winner. It put The Nittany Lions ahead for the first time in the game and sealed the 3-2 victory in Penn State's first win of the season.
In the match against George Mason, Mangione was presented another penalty kick opportunity, just five minutes into the game. He sent the ball past a diving goalkeeper to give Penn State an early 1-0 lead. The Nittany Lions went on to win the game 3-1. Mangione assisted the other two goals in the match.
The Hunt Valley, Md. Native ended the weekend with three goals, two assists and eight points.
