Penn State Competes in XC Home-Opening Meet

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's and women's cross country teams began their 2022 home schedule by competing in their first of three meets in Happy Valley, the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational, Friday morning, Sept. 9, at the Penn State Golf Courses.
 
The women's team placed second in the 6k race, including a fourth-place finish by Sophia Toti at 21:10.7 and a sixth-place finish by Madaline Ullom at 21:13.9.
 
Kileigh Kane (13th, 21:24.6), Libby Benzer (19, 21:40.6), and Makenna Krebs (20, 21:41.7) rounded out Penn State's top 5 placements.
 
The men's team earned a fourth-place finish with top-30 runs from Brendan Colwell (25th, 26:18.1) and Jonah Powell (29th, 26:21.0).

Penn State will be on the course next at the Notre Dame Invitational Friday, Sept. 30, with the next home meet, the Penn State National Open, scheduled for Oct. 14.
