UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State junior Sophia Gladieux (Boyertown, Pa.) has been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 9, 2022. The honor is the first for Gladieux this season and the second of the year for Penn State. She shares the offensive honor with Sarah Charley of Ohio State.
Gladieux scored two game-winning goals this weekend for Penn State, both in overtime. She scored the decisive goal in Penn State's 2-1 win over No.4 Iowa on Friday night in a key Big Ten battle. Two days later, she notched the game winner in a second overtime of Penn State's 2-1 win over visiting Lafayette. Gladieux had four points on the weekend, upping her season total to 33 off 15 goals and three assists.
Her effort helped push Penn State to 11-2 overall, 5-1 in the Big Ten. Penn State is at Bucknell on Friday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m. and at Kent State on Sunday, Oct. 16, at 12 p.m. Both road contests are non-conference games for head coach Char Morett-Curtiss' Nittany Lions.
