UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- No. 12/12 Penn State returns to Pegula Ice Arena to begin a two-game series with Franklin Pierce starting on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m.

THIS WEEK'S MATCHUP 

  • Penn State returns home to Pegula Ice Arena on Sunday as the Nittany Lions begin a two-game set against Franklin Pierce on Sunday.
  • This is the first meeting between Penn State and Franklin Pierce in history. 
  • The Ravens are the third NEWHA team the Nittany Lions have faced in program history.
  • Overall, against NEWHA teams Penn State tallies a record of 4-0-1. 

 
SCOUTING THE RAVENS

  • The Ravens enter Sunday's series with a 1-2-0 record sealing a win against St. Thomas on Oct. 15 2-1 in overtime. 
  • The Ravens have returned goaltender Suzette Faucher who has played most of the minutes this season. She appeared in 19 games last season registering a save percentage of .961 and a 0.99 GAA. 
  • In the 2021-22 season she was named NEWA Goaltender of the Year and NEWA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. 
  • She enters Sunday's matchup with a 1-2-0 record with a GAA of 2.62 and save percentage of .944.  

 
JANECKE JAMMING 

  • Freshman forward Tessa Janecke is off to a hot start in her first eight games of the season.
  • She ranks second in the CHA in points with seven on the year while is tied for first in goals with four. 
  • Janecke also sits tied for 41st in the nation in goals per game. 
  • She scored two goals against Boston College in the team's most recent series.

 
ASSISTING THE OFFENSE 

  • Junior defenseman Lyndie Lobdell tallied two assists in the team's last series against Boston College 
  • She currently sits at 1-2-3 on the year. 
  • Her play against the Eagles earned her second straight CHA Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season on Monday. 

 
SAVES ALL AROUND 

  • The Nittany Lions currently rank sixth in the nation in saves this season at 233. 
  • Goalie Josie Bothun has been the lead saves leader as she ranks fourth in program history in career saves with 1363. 
  • This season, she has tallied 224 saves on the year as she tallied 49 in the series against Boston College earning her CHA Goaltender of the Week honors. 


FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING

  • Nittany Lion freshman defenseman Leah Stecker tallied her first collegiate goal in Penn State's 3-2 victory over Boston College. 
  • She is just the second Nittany Lion defenseman to score a goal this season. 

 
KAMPERSAL HITS 400

  • In the Nittany Lion's 3-2 victory over Boston College, head coach Jeff Kampersal picked up his 400th career victory. 
  • Kampersal began his head coaching career in 1996 and has tallied a record of 400-322-94.
  • He currently sits sixth in women's ice hockey history with the most wins as a head coach.

 
CLOSING IN ON 100

  • Penn State seniors Mallory Uihlein and Julie Gough are closing in on 100 games played in their careers. If both play on Sunday and Monday, they each will hit the 100 marks in Monday's game against Franklin Pierce.
  • Gough has tallied a total of 25-17-42 in her career while Uihlein records 9-34-43 so far in her Nittany Lion career.
